I went to Nobuyoshi Araki's new ehibition today. It was at the surprisingly large Rat Hole Gallery in Omotesando. The exhibition was good with 150 street shots all together across two walls, some odds and ends from years ago, some giant colour shots of his dinosaurs, and a series taken just after the big earthquake in March. By far the strongest shot today was a simple photo of a page from the newspaper listing the people who had died in the earthquake. It was a full page, organised by town, and the striking thing for me was the ages: 64, 1, 34, 15...

After that it was a walk back to Shinjuku in the blistering heat to check out the street photo show at the Third District Gallery by a guy called Hiroshi Ishigaki.

And since most of you aren't in Japan, here is a link to an article and some photos about a photographer that has been taking photos inside a yakuza family.

Back blips up for the 2nd to the 8th, and the 13th July. Check 'em out?
