A Campo in Venice

This is the Campo (square) of San Giacomo dell'Orio, with the church of that name in the background.  As yesterday, this is not a Venetian view that you would find in a guidebook.

It's unique in my experience of Venetian squares: There are lots of trees; it's quite large and irregular in shape, extending to the left, and also well to the right and rear beyond the church. But above all, there are always lots of people hanging out--especially late in the afternoon (no wonder, it's a lovely place to be, as you can see).

It's removed from the central tourist areas, in a very pleasant neighborhood (we rented an apartment for a week very close by two years running; we're only a bit further away this time, near the Basilica of the Frari).
