Battered Lady

This Painted Lady looks a bit down at heel, I think she has seen better days!

But as she is the only sighting I've had of this species this year I had to include her. Just managed this one shot of her on Lavender, before she flitted off again.

Painted Lady butterflies are usually summer visitors from the Continent, so it's not surprising some get a bit battered on the way.

This brings the number of butterfly species seen this year within a half mile of my home to 20.
