Peony Seed Pod

Was walking in the Roche Harbor Gardens today and spotted this unusual sees pod. Spent hours on the laptop back at the boat, trying to figure out what plant it was from. Then went back and studied the other photos I had taken and spotted the foliage and thought, "hmmm that looks like a peony leaf"! Voila, found the seed pods online and had a positive match! This is probably my last post from these gardens this summer as we head home to Oregon tomorrow!

These seeds are black and quite shiny and big...apparently to start from seed requires some soaking and then some dark followed by light treatment!

The peony flowers this year in this garden were so spectacular...white and double! They have planted a long row of them, so it is a real statement when they are in bloom!
