Barricade

Barricade is the title of a new show from Cardiff's finest: No Fit State Circus and was the closing show of the first day of this weekend's 'Out There' festival in Great Yarmouth and this is their rig.

The show was absolutely stunning, and the description in the festival programme absolutely accurate:

'A maelstrom of spectacular circus, breathtaking aerial acrobatics, stunning imagery, inspiring live music and theatrical chaos in celebration of the mighty human effort required to overcome the walls, barriers and obstacles we find or place in our path....'

I first met the fabulous Ali Williams, Director of No Fit State, back in 1988 when I was one of the team organising the 11th European Juggling Convention in Bradford and No Fit State was a much, much smaller operation. I'd meet up with them regularly over the years at subsequent juggling conventions and also when I managed a touring aerial theatre company and have followed their amazing progress with interest.

It was lovely to see Ali this evening. She looks just the same as she ever did and it just seemed like yesterday since I last saw her.

It's been a fab - if slightly damp at the start - day and I came away thinking that absolutely anything is possible.
