Andy's World

St Luke

The building, erected in 1835/6, has a tower, a nave, side aisles and a small sanctuary. The tower contains a three dial clock, placed there by public subscription in 1838 and made by W. Davies of Shifnal.

The position of Ironbridge church is the reverse of the majority of churches, the sanctuary being at the west end and the tower at the east end. This is due to the fact that it was discovered that the land at the west end would not bear the weight of a tower.

Not just a building, this church is home to a growing worshipping community, and you will be made most welcome when you visit. (thanks google)

Back in Ironbridge, lovely walk this afternoon.

Heading on my 12ish hour trip home tomorrow.

:~)
