At Crinan

This was taken just outside the Crinan Hotel - very close to where I took a picture of a very different looking boat in July last year.

The whole canal is fascinating and of course has a place in Scottish history and culture - not least this wonderful song which I mutter whenever I drive from Lochgilphead up to Cairnbaan and beyond. Be sure to play the video below the words on that last link - the incomparable John Grieve does the sentiment more than justice, and makes the connection to puffers and Para Handy. The canal also features in "The Maggie", and is the scene of the poaching incident, if you remember the film at all.
