apples

So, today we picked a few apples from the tree in Mrs BH's parents garden. It was planted from seed by her younger brother (who is now in his late 40s... but we won't mention that!), and it produces the most delicious, sharp, crisp, tasty apples. I have no idea what variety they are, apart from really nice.

The trouble is we picked loads and there's loads and loads more left on the tree. I only picked what I could reach easily, and that was 45!

So we plan to eat a lot of apples in the next couple of weeks (won't be visiting the doctor's at all), to stew several and to make apple butter from the rest. I got the recipe from mother-in-law, and ate quite a lot of it on soda bread over the weekend... happy happle days!
