Star fruit...

Star fruit is one of my favorite fruits - hardly ever in stock, but when it is, I pick up a few of them.

They are originally from Sri Lanka - today they are grown in Florida and Hawaii - they grow well in a warm environment.

The fruit has five lobes and its covered in a waxy edible skin - the flavor is similar to citrus fruits with a mixture of sweet and tart.

One of my favorite ways of eating this fruit - covering them with a little brown sugar and then grill them up - brings the natural juices out...delish!
