Waxcap

Today I had to work in London for the first time in several weeks. So the spaniel and I had a slightly curtailed walk. Nevertheless I spotted this stunning yellow fungi in the dewey grass at the edge of a path across the common. I'm guessing it maybe a golden waxcap.

Anyway, that was the highlight of an otherwise sad day - about 7am I found the lovely old badger that has visited our garden for several years dead in the road. It had been hit in the head by a vehicle. I know it happens all the time but not in a cul-de-sac with a 20mph limit! I was still very cross by the time I got to London and spent the day quietly fuming and being very grumpy.
