Almost Home

Tebay Services on the edge of the Howgills always marks the end of our holiday, sadly. We stop off there because it is about an hour and a half from home and the food is good so it saves us having to cook a meal when we get in. We also choose this above other service stations because it is privately owned and has pretty good ethical credentials. The view from the restaurant is also pleasing on the eye but we were too early for the rabbits today - usually there are lots of them hopping around the banking in the foreground of this shot. Also missing were the house martins which nest under the eaves of the building and put on a fantastic display across this pond as they dive and swoop collecting insects. If you're lucky enough to secure a table under a nest you can spot the young birds waiting to be fed.
