orchid

The hairdresser I referred to yesterday had a flowering plant in his new salon and when I took a close look, he said "yes, it is real".

"I know" I said, "I have one the same"

Apparently the landlord is rapt as the orchid hasn't flowered in 8 years. He asked hairdresser what he was doing to it. H said he just talks to it every day...

Hopefully this shot is somewhat less tacky than my last experiment!

The flowers are about the size of a thumbnail, but other than that they are very similar in form to cymbidiums, those orchids you buy at the florist for special people :-)
