Setting out, Wellington harbour, morning

Wellington harbour was reputedly discovered by the Polynesian voyager Kupe. The first Maori people to settle around the harbour named it Te Whanganui-a-Tara, the Great Harbour of Tara.

Even today, it takes a brave man, or a fool, to set out on a stormy day in a small boat.
