I Have A Cunning Plan!

In Full Flight

Our club (HALO - Humberside And Lincolnshire Orienteers) held an Orienteering event today at the Army Transport Training base in Driffield, East Yorkshire. The area is mainly rough open pasture but has numerous (Very) large man-made hills and hollows for the Army to practice their driving manouvers on, making for rather excellent technical orienteering terrain :)
Here's one of our club stalwarts "flying" through one of the most technical parts of the area, a small quarry with lots of small hills, depressions, ponds and earth-banks.
I patrolled the area for at least a couple of hours taking photo's - it was quite an eye-opener to see how much time it was possible for competitors to lose in such a small area - most of whom seemed to not be reading their maps - occasionally, not at all! Such fun :)
