Chapter Fourteen

I've been reading The Road Ahead, the sequel to The Past Is Myself, lent to me by a very thoughtful former colleague.

It really is a fascinating story, written by a truely remarkable woman, Christabel Bielenberg - all the more remarkable since she was the British wife of a German lawyer, living in Nazi Germany with a young family before, during, and after World War II.

This second book joins the Bielenberg family after the end of war in Germany as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

It's one of those books that is so well told that you feel you're living it with the author - you can picture the people and the places through her vivid descriptions.

So hard to put down, but I'm almost at the end of second part of her incredible adventure, and as far as I'm aware she didn't write anything else...
