Have Bridge--Will Travel

The local Army National Guard is an engineer's unit that ran a practice/training exercise at the river boat launch. They back their trucks, one at a time, down to the water and, with one quick jerk on a release lever, send what had looked like a tanker trailer into the water. As soon as it gets wet the freed cargo begins unfolding itself like a transformer and a portion of a floating bridge appears. Waiting on minature tugs in the water are men who capture and move that section so the next one can be deployed. The pieces are assembled on the water and the compleeted bridge is moved into place where ever the Army brass want it to be.

During it's deployment in Iran two years ago this
Army unit built one of these while under enemy fire. That
had not been done since WW II.
