The East End

Fred took me on a cycling adventure that was absolutely fantastic! From home, we cycled to Crystal Palace then through Forest Hill and Ladywell (where we stopped for delicious lunch at Café Oscar's). We pedalled through quiet streets up past Creekside Artists in Deptford, where I will stop and explore another day. We soon arrived at the Thames-side in Greenwich, which is all wrapped up in scaffold, with the Cutty Sark beginning to emerge from the ashes of a few years ago. Her prow is looking shiny and grand. We weaved through the crowds and soon had the cycle route to ourselves again. Outside the Dome, we admired a Slice of Reality, cycled through the Dome complex and caught the Woolwich Free Ferry to North Woolwich. This was quite exciting since I hadn't been on this ferry before and a new area of London beckoned to be explored. Fred showed me new views of London while the sun began to set. I was particularly impressed by the University of East London campus, beside which Fred is cycling in the blip. I also enjoyed glimpsing the ghostly form of The Shard looming behind the skyscrapers of the City as we cycled through East London to the overground station at Shadwell. A superb London adventure.
