There's been a lot in the news about Gaby's Deli closing near Leicester Square.

This site was for years a little independant cafe run by a very nice Italian man and what always seemed to be various friends and relations.

Good value, nice food, there used to be loads of places like this all over London. This one was nice because it was the only one in this area, at the back of St Paul's station

Suddenly it's been "refurbished" and taken over by a chain who should be convicted for false description. The food is acceptable but no more, certainly not the "treat" it is described as.

Yet another bit of quirky distinctive London gone, replced by the anonymous identikit shops and chains we can find anywhere
