Audrey gives blood

Poor Audrey. This has been a familiar experience over the past year, since she developed anaemia. The vet thought that it was triggered by her annual booster vaccination; a sort of auto-immune response. She's been on steroids for most of the year, with frequent blood tests to check that the dose is right. We took her off the pills for a while and she had a relapse, so she's been taking them again for the last couple of months.

The photo shows our vet and one of the nurses trying to find a vein. She's been amazingly good about it all, though she usually tries to hide if she sees me get out the cat basket.

The good news is that her blood count's up, so we can reduce the dosage. The bad news is that the insurance company stops paying after twelve months, which was last week.
