Blipper at work

Here is Mike Russell opening the new Dunbar Primary School building this morning.

Andrew was outside to greet him with the Skye Boat Song on recorder. Matthew was waiting indoors to photograph it all. Hope he took better pics than his mum!

A fine speech by the Education Convenor, Councillor Peter MacKenzie, in which he told us that this lovely new building had no memories attached to it yet, but it would feature in the memories of our children in years to come (I'm summarising, he put it much more elegantly).

I recalled all the stormy meetings and upset parents I had to deal with as Chair of the Parent Council when the building was being planned and built. I'll spare you the details, but it was all very controversial and concerning to the parent community at the time.

I looked around at the East Lothian Council team who delivered the project on time and concluded that, whilst it was not all plain sailing, they have done an excellent job.
