Marketing Puzzle

This picture is of a poster in bank which has just opened its first branch in Stirling. It's a big bank - like all banks probably now too big to fail - which maybe encourages them to dream up some whacky marketing posters knowing that someone other than its shareholders (ie taxpayers) would ultimately have to pick up the bill if its banking behaviours were as whacky as its advertising.

Now we've only just moved from summer into autumn albeit it is more like a monsoon season. But quite how pictures of a snow scene and a young lady sheltering from the winter snow under a bright red brolly are meant to encourage me to give business to this new bank is beyond me.

You could say the advert is doing its job and making me - and you - think about this bank. Fair enough. But it leaves me cold (pun intended) and absolutely no chance of their winning business from me. Now if they had put up a picture of an ark filling with refugees from this incessant monsoon season we seem to be having then it would have indicated a bank more in chime with the conditions of the day. Ho hum.........
