I used to think that shoes laced together and thrown over power lines or hard to reach places was just a prank someone played... but then I heard that it symbolizes the death of someone serving in the army. I looked into it a bit and apparently there are a variety of legit reasons for throwing the shoes up there... but being at a drinking school... I have my suspicion that this may be nothing more than the result of a drunken night.
