Llandaf Cathedral

Another lovely (late) summer's day today. We went for another big cycle round Cardiff, visiting Llandaf, Insole Court and Fairwater Park, then back again. 8 miles! Quite a day. Llandaf in particular was beautiful, so peaceful and verdant. It's like a little country village just ten minutes outside the centre of Cardiff. This shot is of Llandaf Cathedral. Apart from its architecture it's notable for its sculpture of Christ by Jacob Epstein. Apparently it caused quite a scandal when it was installed; it's not hard to see why. The Jesus itself is fine but it's mounted on a huge concrete construct resembling a spaceship! Certainly the strangest fixture I've ever seen in such an ancient cathedral!

Also just backblipped my photo from yesterday as well if you're interested. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
