Shining Cuckoo - Pipiwharauroa

I acknowledge that today's blip is a very poor photo. I took far better photos of a tui back in a kowhai tree and a blackbird with a mouthful of worms. But this blip is a first for me - I've never even seen a shining cuckoo before, let alone photographed one. In fact I had to get out my bird book (then google it) to confirm what it was.

I saw this wee guy on a grass stalk and although he was a very long way from me, I thought he looked slightly green so I pointed my camera at him and took the shot, just to see what he was. Just as well I had my 500mm lens on or I would have nothing but blurred grass stalks.

This has also been heavily cropped, hence the muzziness.
