Mr Bell's Electric Telephone

..is still inaccessible to us (as is our broadband) since BT are now claiming that the fault is at our end having previously claimed it was at theirs.

There are still a few red telephone boxes in use here and there. They are much more attractive than the boring clear ones but apparently much more expensive to maintain when they get vandalised.

There are different types of red telephone box, this one - as far as I can work out - is known as a K6 and was commissioned to commemorate the silver jubilee of George VI. They became very popular but people did not like the garish red colour to begin with.

Every so often you see on which has been "rescued", presumably from being melted down and turned into trams. I am impressed as to how these people got it down the narrow stairs but I guess they must have got their furniture down there somehow as well.
