Poser!

A cormorant drying out his wings. Lovely sight. Spotted him and many of his pals on the rocks just up from the estuary of the River Ugie at Peterhead.

The name of the river is a classic example of forgotten language misunderstood by the new; 'ugie' is very likely a corruption of the Gaelic word 'uisge', meaning water - probably the local Celtic folk meant it was the main water source in their area. But along come English speaking folk generations later without a word of the Celtic tongue and added the word 'river'. So you've got 'River Water'. Duh! Other great examples include 'Knockhill' which means 'Hill Hill', 'Bin Mountain' which means 'Mountain Mountain'.

Makes me laugh - and also PROVES GAELIC WAS SPOKEN IN NE SCOTLAND!!!
