Fun and Games

Some say cricket is just the ticket.
Others enjoy an old-fashioned toy.
Some quite like to play on their bike
But any old fool can play boules.

Some have high jinks with tiddliwinks.
Others confess to liking chess.
Some find laughs in a game of draughts
But any old fool can play boules:

The game has barely a single rule.
If you've never even been to school,
Or have grown so old you've begun to drool,
You'll find this game is really cool.

Yes, any old fool can play boules.

Happy National Poetry Day, everyone! This year's theme is 'games'. And if you're not into games or poetry, but can't decide what to have for dinner, or what to wear tonight, visit my blog and use one of my new playground dips!

If you do like poetry, and are in the Cheltenham area on Saturday, do come along and meet me. I'm reading from my new book, The RSPB Anthology of Wildlife, at a family event at the Literary Festival. Come along to the Playhouse Theatre at 1pm - and bring your children, too!
