Please release me...

It occurred to me that the oft-overlooked denizens of the world are those that design and make the parts that become the parts of other things...

Consider the humble quick release tripod attachment.

I counted 14 separate parts (it was a slow news day) that together make up this little gem, and each one will have been individually designed, converted into manufacturing drawings, and eventually manufactured,, checked for accuracy, packed and then brought together somewhere else to be made up into a single item for use with another one.

With me so far?

And each individual part of it would have been allocated a unique part number too...
as would the assembled unit of course...

Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes we overcomplicate things???
