A morbid growth.

K gave me a couple of pepper plants back in the summer (how long ago was that?).

I have two problems with the fruit. The first is that I have no idea how to tell when they are ripe. The second is that I have no idea how hot they are. Are they peppers? Or chili?
How do I tell?
