Wind Power

This is one of the last conoys of huge lorries taking the various elements needed to put together a new local wind farm. The lorries don't look that big in the foto, but they expand to an enormous length to accommodate the turbine parts!
At the time of planning approval it was the third largest to gain planning in Scotland. "Once complete, Griffin will apparently add to the 2,000MW of renewable generation capacity already operated by SSE and will contribute to our targets of owing and operating 4,000MW of renewable energy capacity in the UK and Ireland by the end of 2013 and reducing the carbon impact of our electricity generation by 50% by 2020 (from 2005/06 levels)." - at least that's what they say.
All I do know is that the lorries and all the traffic have trashed our local roads and brought dozens and dozens of extra vehicles travelling at break-neck speed along country roads! Hopefully this will all be finished and we can return to the business that we are used to on these quiet roads!!! Hopefully the eco benefits will be worth it in the long run!
