Kinda Before Horrigans

Red and wet...

... could be the description of this leaf... but it's actually the description of my cold!

[finished version on my Kinda Horrigans journal]

A bit of editing on this one as it was a very 'ho hum ordinary shot' (taken with an 18 - 55mm lens and a Raynox 150 lens adaptor). Boosted the exposure with the RAW file and increased the clarity and vibrance.

Then, in Photoshop, I first cloned out the light patch towards the bottom of the frame using a large clone brush set to about 50% opacity. Duplicated the background layer and then used Distort > Render > Lighting Effects and used a large omni spotlight, set the layer to lighten blend mode and reduce the opacity so that the effect was subtle. Used a warming photo filter layer to bring out the colours... then flattened the lot. Sharpened it - then noticed that it was kinda noisy so again duplicated the background layer and reduced the noise - but because this took away some of the detail on the leaf, I used a layer mask to reveal the main part of the leaf and just used the noise reduction on the background.

Flattened and saved.

Since this shot was taken in the wet, 'How to Protect your Camera in Extreme Conditions' seems to be just the article to point you towards today!
