Peterborough Cathedral

Clara has for the longest time, wanted to visit Peterborough Cathedral. Not a problem seeing as it's only 5 minutes walk from our house. We paid the £3 fee for the camera licence and off we went. Now, I'm not religious, but I paid a lot of attention in RE classes and have always had in interest in all religions so felt able enough to explain bits and pieces to Clara. She loved it. Soaked it all up. We got to the east side where they had the candle memorial stand, fighting tears (as I've always wanted to do this) I lit a candle for my Gran (Dec 22nd 1927-1997) and another for Robs Dad (died 10th October 2004) We talked about how sometimes a church was just a place where you could go to remember people who were no longer with us. After the visit, we went and had a cake in Costa Coffee then we heard the Cathedral bells ringing, we walked back and went right to the side of the west side of the building next to the bell tower, it was so loud so we went inside, curious to hear if the bells were as loud indoors. The lovely man at the welcomem desk pointed to the roof and explained to Clara that there was a hole in the roof where the bell ropes used to be pulled from, we listened for the bells but they were faint from within the building.
