Kayaking with Kathy

Gosh, I love the Deschutes River! It is every bit as beautiful as the Metolius River. The upper Deschutes is a bit bigger than the Metolius and much more amenable to flat water kayakers such as we are, but has kick ass rapids for the white-water kayakers as well. Fishing it would be a blast, someting to save for the future. Sharing this adventure with two friends made it all the more fun.

Once Kathy and I are re-settled on the Eugene side of the mountains, I can see us making the trek back over the mountain to these outstandingly beautiful places on the dry side of the Cascade mountains. We are so fortunate to have come to know the charms of central Oregon for these two years, before we settle down in the Willamette Valley.

So many suitable blips from yesterday. Kathy's face and both of our boats reflected in her sunglasses is the one I like best. You all will have to imagine the crystal clear mountain river flowing through the Ponderosa pines on this lazy flat water stretch of the Deschutes.
