Why I don't write poetry

By wintertale

Are we there yet?

Well, we've arrived but not without some hiccups ....

Edinburgh to Newark was uneventful (ish). Poor Doug had a cup of water dropped on him from a great height by a lady who lost her footing in the aisle. He was NOT impressed. The meal was ridiculously repulsive (come on airlines - just how hard can it be?!) and the stewards fairly sullen! Anyhoo ... the thing that really cheesed us off was on our arrival at Newark. Several hundred passengers and 6 customs officers who, as anyone has travelled through the USA knows, are the most obnoxious of species who operate at two speeds - slow and extremely slow. Grrrrr! It took an hour and a half to get through the customs, leaving us 15 minutes to get to the other side of the airport to catch our connecting flight.

Doug and Lois ran to the gate to try and hold up the plane whilst I dragged my poor 70 year old mother at a speed not compatible to her ageing legs ! We were the last to get on the plane and we were given 'the look' by several unforgiving passengers. Ah well. What else could go wrong? Yip, one of the suitcases didn't arrive. Grrr!

Do I sound as though I am ranting?!?

On the plus side - it is very warm and our accommodation is very nice. We are now waiting for Mr Delivery Driver to drop off our missing suitcase which has ALL of our shoes in.

Tomorrow can only get better !
