Lewis Light

Tonight I'm uploading this blip from the Outer Hebrides having crossed the wild waters of Minch by Caledonian MacBrayne ferry. With the autumnal evening light bathing the hills of Pairc district, this naval boat caught my eye.

Thanks to Wikipedia I discovered more about this naval boat. It's an ice breaker ocean patrol boat, named HDMS F359 Vaederen from the Danish Navy. It is normal found patrolling Arctic waters around Greenland or the Faroe Islands, carrying out sovereignty duties, search & rescue, fishery inspection and assistance of local authorities.

Why is it here, in the waters off the West Coast of Scotland? The Joint Warrior maritime military exercise which has turned the waters and shorelines of the West Coast of Scotland into a massive playground for NATO navies to play 'wars'.
