Skyscrapers of the Plains . . .

Silos or "elevators" as they are called here to store the harvested grain crops.

These structures are often 20+ stories high and dominate the skylines of the small towns across the Great Plains. So flat is the land, that these silos can be seen 20 to 30 miles away.

This is wheat country. But corn and sorghum are also big.
