horns of wilmington's cow

Ta-Ra Iain

I've worked beside Iain since I first arrived at my new place. Only 6 months (9 months for him here), but, y'know, you get used to someone. But his secondment has ended, and off he trundles back to the 'salt mines' of private practice. Boo! Still, he's only virtually round the corner, so lunches and so on are easy to organise.

Slightly odd evening. There was an 'informal drinks gathering' organised for the 'legal community' which we were going to after bidding Iain farewell. I blithely assumed that most people in our department would be going, but first off only 3 others could make Lebowski's to say goodbye; then those numbers dwindled to leave just me and one other person to go to the drinks venue (with a suggestion that it would be good if we, the two newest members of staff, could represent our division.

Arriving we were met with... No-one... Stranger than that we asked the 'hostess' and it seems there was no booking in the name of the company; and the name of the room in which we had been told it was taking place had changed some time ago following a refurbishment. Er. Okay.

Still. Tomorrow is Friday, and for the first time in a while, with the bike left at the office tonight, I'll be walking to work, which is always a relaxing way to start the day. Contemplating getting up early enough to walk up and over Arthur's Seat. We'll see if that happens, but with only two beers consumed it shouldn't be too difficult.

AND tomorrow only has one meeting planned. Crikey. After a week where it has seemed like I've hardly seen my desk that'll be something of a culture shock.
