Wavendon in style

This is the local church, in the village of Wavendon, just a few hundred yards from where I live.

The village is famous for - among other things - its great theatre, The Stables, started by Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth. The Stables is an amazing music venue, especially for jazz, but also renowned for its summer camps, run by Dankworth's sister, Dr Avril Dankworth. [http://www.stables.org/learning/music_camps]

The field below the Old Vicarage, where the Dankworths live, is occupied by dozens of tents in the summer months. This weekend, the field is the site for a local ploughing competition!

But the church, in the mid-October sunlight, is strikingly sharp and angled, with the gravestones leaning to different degrees. St Mary's Church was built in the 13th century (I think) and is a classic Buckinghamshire church, simple in style, but ancient and impressive.
