Ticking Away the Moments

Celebrating

Really nice evening tonight - Gary came down from Leeds to Birmingham on the train and met me after work to go out for something to eat.

The traffic is always pretty bad near where I work so I decided to leave my car in the car park and walk to meet him at Brindley Place, down Broad Street in Birmingham. It is a great area for eating places and pubs, round by the canal. We had a walk round looking at the restaurants but couldn't see exactly what we wanted (mainly because we didn't know what we wanted!). So we carried on a bit further, ending up walking to the Mailbox.

This is now a very upmarket shopping area, with the Malmaison hotel beside it - as well as quite a few eating places. We decided to stick with Nandos, one of our favourites.

Then we went to the Malmaison bar to have a glass of champagne to celebrate the fact that Gary starts his new business as a self employed print consultant tomorrow - surprisingly busy in there for a Wednesday night. We decided it won't be on our list of regular places to go - unfriendly service coupled with outrageous prices is never a good combination! The company was great though :o)

Spoilt for choice with blips. This is the walk along the canal towards the Mailbox which is the other side of the arch. You can see the top of the newly built Cube which is a development of apartments, shops and a new hair salon - another photo of the building is here.

This is a photo of a strange sculpture at the entrance to it.

And this is the outside of the Mailbox as we walked up to it.
