Robin at large

Gordon Highlander

Although like every evening this week it is now raining, the day started fine. At lunch time I even dared to venture out for a walk. I met this gentleman, or ferocious Highlander if preferred, at the Gordon Highlanders' Museum.

This is a small but attractive museum of the Gordon Highlanders in the outskirts of Aberdeen. It is fairly new, and has won several awards. They also do dinners on appointment, and I have been there for dinner on a few occasions. I was not paying, which may be an important point. Dinner comes with a tour of the Museum.

The Regiment has been disbanded, and the museum was founded to commemorate their achievements. They have on display several VCs which have been won by members of the regiment over the years, and later bequeathed to the Museum.

Well worth seeing during a visit to Aberdeen.
