Temptation....

This was just a lazy snap shot I took today when Emma and I went to Elmer's on 82nd Street - their Potato Pancakes are to die for. Emma ordered her favourite dish: Chocolate Chip Pancakes!

I really like this image because of the interesting mixture of daylight from the windows and tungsten light from the fixtures. One half of Emma is bathed in the whiter daylight and the other, darker side, with warmer tones. In particular her shoulders, which makes me imagine she has a little devil one side and a little angel on the other, each whispering into her ear about what she should do:

devil: "Look at the delicious chocolate syrup! So Yummy! Dig in quickly"

angel: "Don't do it! Think of all those sugar bugs that'll get on your teeth. And you'll surely have a great big tummy ache too! Best eat something else."

devil: "Never mind that. This is what you wanted. That whipped cream will just melt in your mouth. Don't worry about your teeth. They're going to fall out anyway in a year or two. "

angel: "Don't listen to him. You must establish good eating habits now. You don't want to develop type 2 diabetes by the time you're twenty, do you? Think of your future. Your health is a precious thing. Tell the waitress to take it away and bring you a fruit salad instead."

devil: "Nonsense! In sixteen years they'll have found a cure for diabetes. It would be a crime to waste this marvelous meal. in fact, ask the waitress for a double thick hot chocolate, with whipped cream and extra marshmallows on the side. A little more sugar won't make much of a difference at this stage..."

Well, you can imagine who won that argument :)
