Pelagic fish. I grabbed this shot with my phone in-between real work. This young lady along with 20 others was filleting mackerel in a scene that could easily have taken place in the early 1900's
It is an interesting thought that at the turn of the century young woman from the central belt of Scotland migrated to fishing ports like Peterhead, Wick and Fraserburgh to work in the lucrative Herring and Mackerel industries. Now it is lithuanians and latvians.
Somethings cannot be fully mechanised and still need people with sharp knifes.
