Tudor Cat and Fiddle

This is a Tudor wall painting in a room that was part of the Tudor House, now part of the Aylesbury County Museum. I think that it is rather wonderful, and very lucky to have survived.

Some of the detail of the Tudor construction can be seen in this photograph.

Aylesbury is an interesting mix of ancient and modern. The modern town is bustling and commercial, especially on a Saturday, but some (just a little) of the architecture is good. I like the great steel arches of the Friars Centre redevelopment.

But some parts are surprisingly tranquil, like this leafy glade by the church, .

Nearby is this quaint row of houses.

There is a disaster in the churchyard! A great branch of an obviously old tree has snapped off and fallen to the ground.
