Flight 85N

My original intention was to go to Johnston Gardens and take a photograph of the autumn colours. I have done that, but the photograph also shows the memorial to the victims of flight 85n which crashed on 1st April 2009. A helicopter flight returning from the North Sea.

There were a number of shrubs and trees which are startlingly red at the moment, though in truth the park was probably more spectacularly autumnal a few weeks ago. The rain and wind of the last couple of weeks have removed most of the leaves now.

In another garden on Saturday a gardener was trying to hoover up the leaves. However they were coming down from the trees as fast as he could collect them. It was suggested to him he would do better to just hoover them off the trees before they fell.

Johnston Gardens is probably Aberdeen's most landscaped public garden, and very popular for wedding photographs, it has a pond (and ducks) as well as a play area, so also popular with families and of course dog walkers.
