Sgwarnog: In the Field

Pennine House

The last half hour of sunlight always draws the best out of Bradford's sandstone buildings.

Here you have Pennine House, or 39 Well Street, which is apparently where The Pulse radio station broadcasts from, although that isn't very evident from the outside, unless that array of aerials has something to do with it. You also get a nice view of Church Bank, the other side of which sits the cathedral. Church Bank has been immortalised in old postcards of a tram accident that occurred there in 1907.

Pennine House, a former wool warehouse, is one of the many Grade II listed buildings in Bradford, and dates from 1864-68, and forms part of the warehouse district known as Little Germany.

This view is taken over the top of the infamous "Bradford Hole", site of the much delayed Westfield development, which looks like it will finally be going ahead in the new year. This view won't be here much longer then.
