The right way?

I'm beginning to feel the need for a day to myself!! Today was another one of those days full of busyness, but with little to show for it at the end!

This morning Alex had an orthodontist's appointment. He's being going for over two years now so we're getting to know the staff quite well. Often we're in and out very quickly, but today he was worked on by two dentists, one a trainee who was rather slow and careful...so much so that Alex was almost asleep by the time she finished.

Then I had to rush off to the shops to seek out a birthday present for a friend - luckily I managed to find a rather unusual purple and lime butterfly orchid - two of her favourite colours. Then it was back home for a bit of lunch before heading off for a walk in Fineshade woods with two other home-educating families. It was a beautiful afternoon but i didn't get many photos as I just can't concentrate when socialising!

We had a good walk and managed to find our way back to the car-park even though we didn't always quite know where we were! The trees have just started changing colour, particularly the field maples which turn the most beautiful shades of yellow and orange.

I had hoped to stop on the way home for a sunset shot, but by that time the earlier sunshine had been replaced by intense thundery rain showers. At one point the sun burst through the dark clouds in a blaze of gold, but as I was driving along the A47 with a worryingly small amount of petrol in the car, I couldn't really stop or make a detour to capture it.

I'll be off to bed shortly - another busy day tomorrow taking Alex to Orton Pit to do his investigative project. Let's hope he doesn't fall in any of his sample ponds!
