world outside your window

oblivious

soooo, today i picked up the keys for our bondi beach house! as i type, i'm sitting on our only piece of 'furniture' - a single airbed. M is at the hospital all weekend and i need to be here for potential deliveries from 7am (what do you bet they come at 7pm), so i decided to semi camp until the furniture arrives.

naturally, i headed down to the beach for an evening stroll, and took some shots of a beautiful bondi dusk. however...i couldn't resist blipping this since there'll be plenty of time for bondi dusk landscape shots in the next 12 months.

here's the scene: surfer doing a pretty serious series of stretches to warm up, completely oblivious to the hilarious chinese tourist mimicking him at every move, while his girlfriend (out of the frame to the left) took photos. priceless.

i also forgot to mention my sydney police encounter yesterday. Post IKEA, pretty exhausted, we get pulled over by police for 'random breathtesting'. i've never been pulled over by the police or breath tested in my life! so, i pull over, wind the window down. the cop takes my licence. no problem. he then holds his breathtesting machine in front of my face and says, "cantalahdtitin". i had absolutely no idea what he said and said, 'sorry?' - he repeated this three times. still. no idea at all what he's saying. M meanwhile shrinking into the passenger seat whispers forcefully: 'count aloud to ten'. ohhhh. no problem. breathtest passed. as i drive away the cop says, 'i'll ask you an easier question next time.' Brilliant!! Definitely need to learn the lingo :p

oh and today i ended up flushed onto Sydney Harbour Bridge totally by mistake.. i wanted to head east, not north. Nightmare drive! Far more chaotic and costly in tolls than the Forth Road Bridge ;)
