Another Languedoc year...

Bulbs

This morning I planted 300 daffodil and anemone bulbs. It was back-breaking work, but I'm hoping they'll cheer up the builders' spring mornings whilst they work on constructing our house.

Monty Don says to just cast them in a drift, then set about planting them where they fall. So that's what I did. Heaven knows how they'll react to growing on schiste. We can only wait and see.

In a minute I'm off to buy some more fruit trees with my mum. We'll clatter along in Marcel the ancient car, looking demure on the way there, then ridiculous on the way back. I'm planning on buying seven trees and they'll all be poking out of the back.
