Finchale Priory

Today me and Abs went to Finchale priory, The very extensive remains of a 13th century priory, founded on the site of a retired pirate's hermitage. Part of it later served as a holiday retreat for the monks of Durham Cathedral.

As a kid i always new it as Finchale abbey, but hey ho. what amazed me, is that although it is a perfectly still, warm, autumnal day, there wasn't a soul around!!

Took this photo in the undercroft, lord knows what went on here, but there was no lighting and Abs refused to go in at first! don't blame her, i remember coming here as a child and being scared whit-less!!!
