Middleham Castle

Back blip

We have been away for the weekend, to Iain's cottage in the dales. The original plan for Saturday afternoon was to take the train from Leyburn to Hawes. Steam trains run on this line, but today it was a diesel. By the time we arrived, it was a half hour wait for the next train, then once it arrived in Hawes the last train back was 18 minutes later! It didn't seem worth it, so we went to Middleham Castle instead. Orla was distraught - she really wanted to go on the train. Lesson learned - don't tell her what we're planning unless we know for sure we can follow through! It was fine in the end though, she loved the castle. Especially after we got her a little friend to play with from the shop - Charad (that's as close as I can guess to what she was calling it!) The Dragon. They played hide and seek, ran round and round the castle, climbed stairs and generally had a great time.

Orla has been at the doctor twice again this week. First on Monday, where we found out she has an ear infection and were prescribed a new antibiotic. Much battling to get her to take it. By Friday she was much better, and we went back to have her ear checked. But it's still very red and infected, apparently, so she will be on antibiotics and using her ear spray for another week. The joy.
